A Great Ford Mustang Story

I had a very nippy Lexus IS200 which was supposed to be my run-around for a few months. So nippy infact that I forgot the main reason for buying it. Three years passed and it started to show signs of fatigue. (Probably due to the high mileage I was doing.) I remember while I was parking somewhere I began to reflect on which car to buy next. As I stepped out of the car and opened the boot, I looked up and saw a clear blue sky. There were no clouds in sight. My reason for looking up was to check for clouds causing a distant thunder rumble. After a few seconds of confusion I turned my head to the left and saw there almost in slow motion a Mustang GT pulling up on the far end of the car park.
I smiled from ear to ear. The deep rumbling of the exhaust was like a distant growl of a mythical Dragon. It was the first I had seen in the UK which left me with great inspiration.
I took a trip to my local ford dealer and made an inquiry about the Mustang. The sales representative told me that I would need to buy it privately. As I was about to leave the store the sales rep called me back and said "I am not really suppose to mention anything yet, but we will have the new European Mustangs available to order by the end of next year." Even though I felt a short surge of excitement, I wanted one NOW. I spent some time looking online but for some reason I couldn't connect to any of the Mustangs I saw. I eventually became bored and gave up.
One year later I was scrolling through some DVD's at a friends place and found a movie called 'Need for Speed'. It blew me away. It didn't make sense as to why it had not been shown in cinemas because I had never heard of it before. Great movie! With renewed vigor I went back to the Ford dealership and as I entered the store, there it was, the brand new Mustang GT on display. My jaw dropped. An absolute beauty, just like in the movie. As the movie ends there is a cut scene with the new 2016 Mustang GT. That was the same model.

I walked up to it in admiration of it's majestic beastliness. Felt its curves and finished paint work. What a beauty. A member of staff approached me and asked if I needed some assistance and I asked for the Mustang specialist. He pointed across the room to a well dressed short'ish man who was speaking to someone on the phone. He placed out his palm for me to sit on the chair opposite his desk. A few moments later he hung up the phone, looked at me with a serious face and said "How can I help?" "I am interested in the Mustang I said" twiddling my thumbs. He sighed and said, "Right" What do you want to know?" "You can tell me about it?" I said with my body language similar to Chandler from Friends. He mentioned a few things in an uninterested way and I asked to arrange a test drive. "Nothing until next week" he said. I told him to call me when a slot opened and he told me he could arrange one on Monday. Fine with me. I stood up and started walking towards the door. For some reason I found myself unable to walk out, so I turned back to the Mustang and sat inside with my hands on the wheel admiring the interior and Henry Ford’s vision. The sales rep walked over to me and said "Listen, I am so sorry, I need to apologize, I have been dealing with a really abusive customer who has been making my day hell and the timing was really bad.” “Please accept my apology.” "If you want, I have a Mustang round the front, I have the key, We can go for a test drive now." ”I understand“ I said. ”As a business owner I know how difficult some people can be.” It‘s not a problem.” “In fact, you should not be expected to accept abuse from any customer in the first place.” I made no issue of it and we were on the road in minutes. 0-60 etc. Absolute beauty to drive.

We returned to the show room and when he asked what I thought, My response was "I want one, I need one." I placed the deposit and the order for the Ruby Red 5Ltr V8 was made. Sadly he informed me that it would take one year for the car to arrive as they were made to order. I actually liked the idea as it strengthened my belief in the law of attraction. The one I saw in my mind time and again is the one being made from nothing. In the book by Wallace Wattles, he says. "There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the inter-spaces of the universe. A thought, in this substance, Produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.
Man can form things in his thought, and, by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.
This was a life changer for me as this had been previously experienced in the Alan Ford blog posted in one of my earlier blogs. (link added below)
Seven months passed and the phone rang. "Hi is this Djinn?" "Hello mate, Great news, are you sat down? Your car has arrived." My palms began to sweat just thinking about it. I only ever experienced two dream cars of which this became one of them. Jaguar, Mercedes, Bugatti, Ferrari, Mclaren, never appealed to my personality although they are beautiful cars. This I had to have.
I went to see the car and it was in the compound ready to be prepped.

I checked everything over and we made the arrangements. The car went for final checks, washed cleaned and Andy (The sales rep who has become a great friend of mine) made sure there was plenty of fuel in the car and threw in a full Diamond cleaning kit.

The customer service at Hartwell Ford is exceptional. I made a suggestion on a feedback form after booking in a service job. My phone rang after a few days to check into why I was displeased. I confirmed that it was not the case, I was merely making a suggestion offering ideas for improvement.

I could have left that day wondering about that rude customer, thinking Ford Musta'ngered him but evidently it was not the case.
As a business owner I know that sometimes some people are just difficult. That angry customer who I know nothing about could have changed something in my life.
In celebration of the event, The Mustang has been featured in the Music video of my collaboration with the extremely talented singer songwriter and amazing friend Zana Messia. (Burn out included)
I rate the patience that the Ford staff must need to practice each day. Letting my passion for what I love made me stay in the store. I am glad I did for I made a great friend.
Great experience, wonderful staff and I highly recommend them to you all! Thank you Ford.
